White Balance Preset Does Not Hold (SOLVED)

I’m on darktable 5.2 win 11 22H2

I do not use color calibration. Instead I like to use white balance with a preset set to as shot. That is the icon on the left when looking at the module. The preset is set for all images as an auto apply.When opening photos where no xmp files have been created in darktable, the white balance module sometimes defaults to “set white balance to user defined”

Is there any way to force the white balance to maintain the RAW preset that I have created?

if you define a preset, then this contains whitebalance parameters. if they are copied to a different image then these in’t “set as shot” but pasting the formerly used parameters - so manual.
