Previously for processing of camera-digitised black and white negatives I heavily relied on the one particular trick. I used to set demosaic to pasthrough
and manually set the white balance by the film base to equalise RAW channels to nullify the Bayer pattern. It always produced much sharper results than any demosaicing algorithm available. It just doesn’t work anymore in 4.0 as white balance
module gets disabled in passthrough mode.

I also do this, but with monochrome infrared xtrans files.

Maybe use the color calibration module (presets B&W or set “adaptation: none”) instead.
