Here’s a photo of a little egret at Blashford Lakes nature reserve. I’m wondering if anyone can come up with a way of showing more feather detail, especially over the bird’s shoulder. I’ve been fiddling with it in a mostly random amateurish way, and to my eye I get slightly better results with filmic than my usual sigmoid. Over to you (and thanks in advance).
I see a dark hallo around the bird, mostly above it (and its underside also got very dark). I haven’t opened the xmp (I’m on the phone), but did you perhaps use tone EQ?
The one from @Popanz looks similar, especially the underside. Gradient + vignetting?
Yes, thanks, but to my eye the feathers on the bird’s neck now look sort of over sharpened, which I think is down to your local contrast module settings.
The feathers were not clipped so I managed to get some detail. The local contrast module seems to help, but play with the sliders. DSCF7239.RAF.xmp (15.3 KB)
