White car - Need help with filmic

Got a chance to do a small photoshoot with my car as the star model.

I need help with keeping the car white. I think I’m doing something wrong in filmic. Check the area just below the headlights. Any pointers would be most welcome.

I think, the reddish surrounding is reflected in the white of the car. So, the color might be real.

That white in the area you reference is pretty close to neutral, but not quite. I think you’ve added a bit of color saturation to the image, which emphasized that “not quite”…

In rawproc, I let the camera metadata do the whitebalance, then I added a second whitebalance tool to take a patch off the white area under the left headlight. That adjusted WB accordingly: whitebalance:0.941,1.000,1.087:

Bit of a crop to get rid of you in the lower left, and 'ere y’go.

Top of the car is reflecting blue sky, shadows are only lit by sky light, so popping the contrast up and removing “blue” is going to lead to a warmer white, but it’s not unpleasant.

I did not get the color until I tried taming the highlights with the Tone Equalizer. Then, I got splotchy areas of the color on most of the hood and front bumper. So, I removed the Tone Equalizer.

EDIT: Not sure what I was thinking when editing the above version, bit of an abomination now that I look at it again…

Not going to replace/remove it, but I am going to add another one that’s a bit better.

Tried to do a 2 minute edit, ended up taking 20. Where does the time go?

IMO, a shiny white surface like that should reflect its environment, thus should not be perfectly white.

Ok, so it’s just the reflection? I’ll try out a monochrome module then, with a mask for the car.

It would be easier to fix this in gimp with a brush.
