Why isn't there a way to save images in a raw format in Raw Therapee?

Hi, I recently discovered Raw Therapee and have been using it to edit photos from a trip to some volcanic islands but I noticed that there’s no way to save the changes to the raw files after I’m done editing. I can only save files as a jpeg once I’m done. Am I missing something? Is there a way to save the changed images as raw files? I want to lock in those changed permanently. And help/advise would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

RawTherapee saves a sidecar file with the extension .pp3. This file contains all your edits and is updated when you move a slider.

In the file browser, you’ll see a green checkmark on images that have been edited.

Raw files are supposed to be immutable. They’re a permanent record of exactly what your camera recorded.

Instead of changing them, you get a sidecar file (.pp3) which stores the settings you used.

There are Jpegs, Tiff and Pngs (even 16 bits possible with png and tiff). That’s pretty enought…
