Windows Installers

Hello to all! Great thanks for ART! Excuse me, how can I download earlier versions of ART for Windows? For examplem I wanr ART 1.12.1 Windows installer. But I cant find it. Thanks for answer.

here current version > agriggio / ART / Downloads — Bitbucket
also there, standalone version without installer > ART-W64NightlyBuilds/ – Keybase.pub

For the second link read this

No. There are only Windows installers for the current versions. There is no official source for older ones like 1.12 etc. You can

  • compile it yourself with the corresponding .tar.xz,
  • try searching the internet if any 3rd-party page still has an old installer, or
  • hope that any user has an archive.

Oh, its an awful thing. Why dont you preserve old versions Windows installers?

In what interest is this ? :face_with_monocle:
The sources are enough to remind us

Why do you want (need?) an older version? Alberto is very responsive to quickly fix bugs and add new features. Those older versions won’t have such improvements. Unless there’s a technical reason a newer release simply won’t work for you, I recommend going with the newest (1.17.2).

The same could be asked of you. When I ran windows I kept backups of all the instllerw I wanted.

Hi,
Keeping old versions around might be confusing to people who just want to download the current version, and might give the wrong impression that there is some known reason to use them rather than the latest. As other people have said, I’m not aware of any reason to use an old installer. If you found a regression, I’ll do my best to fix it once it gets reported

As others, I wonder why you need an old ART installer.
I keep the processed JPG or TIFF output and I don’t see any interest to process the raw in the same conditions to redo the same output.
When I go back to an old raw, I use the last ART and try to improve on the existing output.
That said, in my archive I have ART_1.11_W64_Skylake.7z and ART_1.13_W64_Skylake.7z but no 1.12.

I worked a lot with my ART 1.12.1 one year ago before war in Ukraine, where I live. Nowadays I wanted to install it on another PC I work. I decided, that as a RawTherapee, ART also would keep an older versions.

I want to work with versions, that I know, how to do something in. I get used do them, so I change versions very seldom. Nowadays we have a new RawTherapee 5.9, but I use 5.8 even without spot removal in. I tried 5.9, but when I do my habitual adjusments, the picture looks not the same, that i took in 5.8.

The same thing is as for ART. Really I wanted to compare my known 1.12.1 with the new version we have today. And what have i found?

Its very strange decigion to remove older versions, really. You dont know, who and why would became interested in it. If older versions were released, it is reasonable to keep them.

Thanks.

Hi,
as I wrote, if you notice regressions, please do report them, and somebody will try to fix them.
Old versions are still there, just the installer has been removed for the reasons explained above.

Im not so IT-specialist to build windows installer from .tar or something else. Im huble user only. So thanks, but it is thing, that upsets my experience.

If you have noticed that something has changed wrt 1.12.1, please let me know what that is. I’m talking about your experience as a user here, no need to be a IT specialist or a developer. You wrote above:

So, let me ask again: what has changed in the latest version so that you get a different look than with 1.12.1? Without knowing that, it’s hard to make progress.

I am sorry about that, please accept my apologies.

I think all he wants something that he is familiar with, hence a previous version.

Visually, there should be no difference between 1.12 and the latest version. Some features have been added, but they are minor things that can be ignored. If something has changed significantly, that is most likely unintentional, so my question.

I can try to rebuild 1.12.1 BUT, due to modification of dependencies, it will not be exactly the same.
In the future, be careful to keep the version you use.

I have the installer. I zipped it. The system here does not allow me to upload an exe file.
