Winter, quite some time ago ...

While browsing some old photos, I stumbled upon this one. Unfortunately, the main subject (deer feeding rack) is in shadows. I tried to emphasize it somehow, without looking unnatural.
I’m interested in other ways and possibilities of rendering it.

Very nice contrast between the “warm” and “cold” parts of the scene - I really like it …

GIMP cropped; masked by Threshold, second mask by inverting it; two duped layers; masked each one; adjusted the two layers separately; merged them, et voila:
