Hi, my 64-bit windows 8.1 computer refuses to open gtk3 builds, most recently the RawTherapee_WinVista_64_release_gtk3_4.2.1464. Just crashes immediately when launching…

A window crash report won’t help. Download the DEBUG version for testing.
Version 4.2.1464 runs fine on WIN 10 x64

Let me know if this output from Windows Event Viewer is anymore useful. I’m also crashing on the RawTherapee-64-debug-gtk3-4.2.1464 version during startup. Can’t read the wiki pages about what to do next, this was suggested in another thread. Ok, thanks for your help.

So, I went thru How to fix crashes on startup, however, the options file is a global pre-first startup options file… no real options there to fix, no cache or batch folders. Seems to be crashing before even getting this far in the startup process.

Perhaps you have more than one and are looking at the wrong one? Where was it and what’s in it?
More important is starting RT from an empty folder, and most important is the link about useful bug reports, stack backtrace section.

The only glitch I had with going thru the wiki was rawtherapee-DEBUG.exe is called rawtherapee.exe in this instance.
