Wood duck on the Trave

Wood ducks are not native to Europe. Occasionally, however, animals are found that have escaped from captivity. I found this male on a small river in the north of Germany.
The light was not too good, and the bird was relatively far away. The noise is a bit of a challenge. Have fun developing.

That’s a great find in his non-native territory. I’m looking forward to seeing them around March here in Virginia.

Woody seemed a little a skew, so I straightened the water lines a bit. The new Color Equalizer seems to ignore yellow, so I used Color Zones instead. Thanks for the Play Raw, this is good practice for Spring!

Thanks for sharing, woody. I felt that the focus should be to brighten things up, and that’s what I did. I am now experimenting with Sigmoid, used it to increase the contrast and color up a bit. I always start with making the picture monochrome, as then I find it easier to create a better tonal spread (aka Ansel Adams). Improving the yellow was done using color equalizer. Making it tilt towards yellow was done to liven things up, and finally the crop was to focus on woody.
