Work, life and other detours

Thanks for sharing. I hope some day you find a way to put at least some of it in the rearview mirror so you can find and live the best version of your life. Keep positive people close and thosr that drain you far away…

glad it went well

Who knows what the outcome will be. We shall see. The interview was surprisingly short and strangely sandboxed. (Some alliteration for @Claes.)

I need someone’s assistance, preferably a dev or PIXLS admin. Looking for a third reference as soon as possible. They need 2 minimum but their form has 3 so I hope to fill out the third slot. Let me know if you can support me in this way and I will provide you with more info. I know that you are all from different time zones. My current time is UTC-4. Thanks.

PS I just got an email from my third, but it would be nice to have one from this community for future endeavours. Thanks for your consideration.

After testing me one last time, even after contacting my references, if I am not mad, I believe I may have gotten the job with the City! Now onto other matters, such as receiving and finalizing the contract, and figuring day one details, including the commute, attire, demeanour and other prickly considerations that I won’t mention because this isn’t a time to be a worrywart but to celebrate the end of a month long process. Thanks for listening.

Yes dude that is so awesome! Congrats.

Listen now, you’re smart, you’re a nice person, and I think you’ll do great. Now you just have to believe that.

Well done sir. Perhaps this is a reset on your life. We all have one or two or even many. Try to embrace the change and wring every last drop of life out of it…who knows where it will lead…

Happy for you. :congratulations:

Dude, that’s awesome!

Don’t worry too much about all the (new) stuff that you’ll be running into in the first couple of days. Everyone needs time to adjust, settle down and get the hang of a new job.

Anyway: I’m glad for you.

Congratulations! Good luck for the job.

Congrats! Take the landing in your new job easy, enjoy the journey and good luck

Congratulations
All the best for the start!

If your City is anything like my City, consider taking one or more civil service exams while under contract. (and even after the contract comes to an end). The examination scoring process itself takes awhile, six months is not unusual, but when it is done, and should your City extend you a full time position, you’ll pass quickly through the provisional FTE phase and become a civil servant. Maybe the pay scales aren’t what they are like in the private sector, but the employment is steady and the public sector still offer things like pensions. That’s something worth while if you are 30 - 40ish.

That sounds great! Hope this new opportunity works out for you.

Good to hear!

Well it would appear my employment is now safe, thanks to the assistance of union rep. I’m now redeployed into an alternative role, as I’m covered by the Equality Act due to my long term health issues. While I wish I wasn’t unwell, at least it’s one less thing to worry about, since my job is now safe.

That is good news indeed. Most people don’t get a chance even with representation or advocacy. Show them you are still in the game (with of course a few adjustments here and there). All the best.

This view[1] is not from my desk.

Looks like you have a fancy 3 lens phone.

Single dual lens. Like I said, entry phone.
