There is a long standing tradition in this forum (at least 2 years, from what I found :D) to go through the photos you took in the previous year and show your personal best of. I think no one started a thread for 2024 yet, so let me start with my top 3
Passiflora in Monochrome
Probably the (currently) best of my ongoing “Flowers in Monochorme” project. This is actually my first photo that made it to Flickr Explore (I didn’t expect to ever get one of my photos to Explore, as I don’t play the social media game of collecting followers, etc.).
As part of a weekly assignment Flickr group, I took some photos in the style of Alexey Titarenko some years ago. I didn’t know Titarenko before and still am really impressed by his work (I’d love to get a copy of “The City is a Novel” but unfortunately its sold out and used copies I found were too expensive…). Back then there weren’t many people on the street, so ever since, I wanted to give it another try. Maybe not the best shots, but they are in my top 3, as I’m happy that I finally managed to go into town with camera/tripot/filters again.
I don’t have any images from last year I’d consider good, but I guess in a relative sense these are my best (I guess). 2024 was a very nothing year for me photographically.
Kingfisher at Blashford lakes reserve, UK. It was strongly backlit, positive exposure compensation and raising shadows and mid tones resulted in the background being blown out.
A whole year I cannot manage. But out of the 53 concerts I attended and processed in December (Our city’s special "Music Season) this one stuck in my mind…
(I wish I could insert images here in Pale Moon browser: I will just have to open Chrome)
I had a pretty good year (your first is always your best, right?)
So while I may not have the most “technically” good photos, I favored these ones the most either due to the experience of getting the shot, or feeling like I’d progressed with my editing to achieve a look I’d been chasing.
Please enjoy.
Fun to revisit my starred photos from the last year. Many of what I consider my “best” are pictures of family and friends, but these are three I’m quite proud of. It’s clear from looking at old photos that I’ve gotten quite a bit better at using darktable in the last year as well. So a big thank you to everyone in this community.
This last one probably isn’t technically executed particularly well, but it was one of my first attempts at taking photos of stars, and I happened to catch a shooting star while also in focus, which seemed like an accomplishment to me!
Hi, I could not leave only three, I think these are the ones that I like the most in terms of revealed and complexity, but I leave a link to my website where I made the selection of the best of 2024.
Tripod. Graduated filter to have some stars in thy sky (a lot of light pollution). And some work with RT and ART. Personally, it’s one of my most impressive images. Maybe because it’s my home town.
Hello, here are three shots taken with my “brand new” Agfa Paramat, a half-frame camera from the mid-60s, that I found last year in a recycling shop for 1,50€.
Film: expired Fuji Superia (dev before 07/2007). Developed by a lab, scanned in XSane and processed in ART.
Focus is manual and sometimes I forgot to focus (it’s just the second film I shot with this camera). But who says that a photo should always be in focus? I love this shot, can’t tell why. Marseille, France
A view from a room, Marseille again.
Marseille, France, Le vieux port.
I printed these photos at about the size I show them here, nice tiny little things!
