I must admit that my own initial doubts were so large, that for a period now I haven’t even bothered to look at the thread. When I anyhow did look now, I agree with qmpel and must commend you, Marko, for the variation and quality of your images. Your project has turned out to be an inspiration project.
I believe, Martin, that it’s been quite clear to the Finnish voters which of the candidates was the non-straight one …
Thanks! I like also that image, knit cap and especially model very much . I used two lights and reflector to get that one and then darktable helped me to get this final image.
Thanks! Those sockets, nuts and washers are from Villu Jaanisoo’s sculpture - Ostrich Egg (lower image behind the link changes when clicked and shows whole sculpture).
Thanks! This project has already taught me a few new things. I’m happy to hear that these images can give inspiration to others also.
Made this one bit more dramatic with Freaky B&W from G’Mic. This one is better on higher resolution IMO. If you have 4k monitor you can see it and other images from this thread in 4k here: https://mve.kuvat.fi/kuvat/366+kuvaa±+2024/
I like this one. This one is those images I immediately saw how it will look like. I used 12mm of lens shift so there was no need to straighten trees in post processing.
I really like the bicycle one, except the shallow DoF on the derailleur is for me a distraction. Were the bike in a much lower gear, indeed, on the largest sprocket, the gleaming chain would neatly complement the gleaming frame. Just a thought.
Thanks. I still need others to point me these small details. It would indeed complement that frame if I had set gear on the largest sprocket.
Thanks. Great to hear that and I still indent to complete this project, so much more still to come At home, I have transportable a black&white background, so it helps in the pictures like details from MTB. When walking with the camera, I have to focus much more on them. As in the trees on March 19th, I set the tripod very low, so the forest behind lake and a small ridge could not be seen.
19.4.2024 - Winter is back
Monumet for Evacuation of Finnish Karelia. My grandma was one of those ~12% of Finns who lost their home to Soviet Union. She was from farm next to Lake Ladoga. I have visited that place once, some 15 years ago and only thing what was still standing was cellar dig in the ground. All other buildings were destroyed.
17.4.2024 - Wile E. Coyote is the quintessential accident-prone creature. Brought a smile.
19.4.2024 - presumably the monument is on (remaining-) Finnish territory? Thanks for sharing your family’s loss
This monument is few years old and it is located in Lahti, Finland. Russians are currently destroying many old monuments on former Finnish territory so if this was there, it would most probably been destroyed already. They are trying to erase a history away or rewrite it, which ever fits their aim to create their imperium again. I hope that ordinary russians get soon rid of the nut jobs that have lead their country (once again) to dark side of the history. Slava Ukraini!
It is pretty common here that people leave their phone number if they cause this kind of dents to other people cars. Though, it’s not so common nowadays as it used to be. This kind of sticker with phone number would be great way to tell sorry and then later you (or your insurance company) can pay fixing it.
22.4.2024 - Common wood pigeon
Pigeons decided to create their nest behind our kitchen window.
Not wanting to hijack this excellent thread of photos, but just in case you, @mver, or any others wanted to do something concrete (literally - as a construction material) to address humanitarian need in you can find information about a current project to rebuild apartments in Kharkiv and Kiev here.
