I’m looking at buying a Samsung U28R550 monitor quite cheap and wondering if there would be any issues running it on Linux.
Kubuntu
Geforce GTX 960
16 gb ram, i7
Thanks.

Morning!
I have the U28E590. (Mine has a TN panel, yours an IPS panel.)
For me, it works just fine together with the bunch
of distros that I have played with since I bought it.
It is easy to calibrate, using Argyll and a ColorMunki Photo.
Only “problems” I have had concerns my Nvidia GFX,
which does not go well with certain distros. But that has
nothing to do with the monitor.

Thanks for that info!
I bought it and it’s working great. Don’t think I could ever go back to 1920 x 1080 now. Question: While I can increase the size of most text with Ctrl +, the menu text is small. Fortunately I’m nearsighted so I can move in closer, but is there a way in Linux to increase the size of text in menus etc?
Morning!
Yes – but it depends on what distro/DE you use.
I am not up to date regarding your kubuntu, but
some years ago, people complained that it was
not especially good at handling hidpi. Things
may have changed since then — simply perform
a web search for
kubuntu hidpi
Check what your settings|display might offer.
Other distros even come with a special toggle

I don’t have a high dpi display to test, but you should find a scale factor in the display settings. There has been a big push lately to make high dpi work fine under KDE, but depending on your Kubuntu version you may not see it until Plasma updates to the latest version.
That worked. I scaled it to 1.7 and everything works fine, although I could probably cut it back to 1.3 to1.5. Thanks to both you and @guille2306.
