Can't seem to be able to reply to specific posts, only produces a reply to the topic.

When I follow a topic, I can click on this at the bottom:

to reply to the thread in the general, or on this under any post:

To reply to the post. When I do so, I get the expected header that tells me I’m replying to a post:

But after I compose the reply and hit the reply button at the bottom, my reply is added as a general answer to the topic and not as a reply to a specific post. Am I the only one to see this?

It has always seemed pretty hit-or-miss to me, that is why I try and use quotes and @ replies to try and make it follow able.

I find that these days it is necessary to select and copy text as a quote before hitting the post reply button. No quote, no attribution.

what do you mean with “follow a thread”?

Let’s see if that works

I see a quoted post, but that’s not exactly like a reply.

do you mind telling me what you mean with “follow thread”?

could this be a rendering issue if your reply is to the last post?

so in both cases i pressed the “reply” button on your post directly.

for the post that directly follows yours. it doesnt include the reference (your avatar) in the post. for the 2nd reply i replied to the post above it (which now says “2 replies” - which you can unfold btw) and there it shows the avatar.

does that help?

I copy-quoted the above; then clicked on the post reply button; then pasted the quote; then wrote some text; then clicked on ‘Reply’ …

… I give up, it’s not showing at top right to whom I replied - and yet it often does.

quoted reply != reply to post

OK

Still no “replying to whom” indication, so I’m still out unless I find a magic sequence that works.

@cedric read the post i replied to here.

Link, please; you have replied to several posts, so I don’t know which one to read specifically.

And then this one worked…

did you actually read my post above which explains the logic?

who is “you” and and which post are you talking about?

Sorta makes sense… So this one should be a reply to your post, since there are other posts in between…

Edit: it indeed is…

and if you think about it, the current behavior avoids clutter (not showing unneeded UI elemengs) in the case where your reply is directly below the person to whom you reply.

However, if you reply to the post just above yours your reply is not obvious to others.
