My batteries have been kept charged, but Iāve had trouble finding the time to shoot, so the battery charging has been quick. I finally managed to get out recently; the fog promised in the forecast wasnāt on land, but turned into a nice dense bank over the surface of Lake Ontario. This isnāt a great shot, and the editing is pretty rudimentary (my first time trying Art in a couple of years), but I think the fog bank was worth sharing.
I got out yesterday morning on a grey November morning (not cold, though) and drove an hour to Chicot State Park near Ville Platte, Louisiana. The lake, cypress trees and surroundings are about a stereotypically āLouisianaā as it gets. I rarely shoot these sort of intentionally Louisiana-ish images but I was itching to press a shutter button so I gave in. 
Here in the deep south USA we donāt get a lot of autumn color (particularly where I live, since itās all ānevergreenā pine trees), but thereās a little bit here. More, in fact, than I shot.
Cypress trees āfloatingā on the water, visually at least
This one somehow evokes a giraffeās feet. Maybe itās just meā¦
A little green, yellow and orange on the otherwise drab cypress tree.
Crop out all the grey and it looks brighter.
The only significant editing was cloning out a bright yellow tubular floating barrier in the background of the first two (reflections) shots. Iām not sure what its purpose is, but it contained a backlog of leaves and surface growth behind it.

I grew up in Lafayette, and my family spent a bunch of weekends camping at Chicot. Fished a lot of bream out of the swamp thereā¦
i spent my youth jonesing for the mountains, didnāt really pay attention to the compositions available in the flat-ness that is Louisiana. i now love spending early mornings capturing the light in wood stands; paddling around the cypress swamps similarly would be fine with meā¦
Iāve been in Louisiana all my life. My dad was a Baptist minister so we moved around a tadā¦
Iām still in jonesing mode for the mountains, waterfalls, cliffsā¦ you name it. But if I grit my teeth and look hard enough thereās usually something to shoot around here. Just not what Iād usually choose, given a choice. LOL
Iād like to do more woodland photography, but in my immediate area itās all densely undergrown (and overgrown!) pine forest. Not much color and way too cluttered.
I guess itās road trip time!!
Meant to mentionā¦ FWIW these were shot with a Canon T8i / 850D, Sigma 17-70 and Canon EF 70-300 lenses and edited in darktable 4.1 / Affinity Photo on Windows 11.

What exactly do you mean?
Looking at the photo ( the Punta del Hidalgo one) the horizon looks perfectly level to meā¦ my 2c! Zoom in on the actual bit of horizon on the left, perfectly level. The slightly āslopingā shoreline is just perspective.

It was a foggy, flat scene, and I deliberately tried to preserve it that way.
(Actually, I would lessen the contrast even more, if I were to edit it again
