Returning to the scene of the crime: another day, two different perspectives.

No one should accuse it of blending into the neighborhood …

EDIT: One may wonder about its solidity, though – it appears like they cut at least one corner when they built it …

Hi,
To identify birds safely, and to know the range of each species, do you know the specialized site “The birds”?

Do not confuse with The Birds (1963)

I’ve been trying to get a decent shot of one of these for several weeks now. I believe it’s a digger-cuckoo bee. It takes over the nests of digger bees, kills the eggs, and lays its own. They are smaller than honey bees, zip around much faster, and don’t sit still for very long. When they are around the mallow they dive bomb right into the flower, spin around, and take off again in an erratic flight path to who-knows-where.

Starting in early February I would see one or two every few days but I had no luck getting a shot that was in focus until today. Today there were several of them around so I didn’t have to chase them around as much. Hopefully they will stick around for a few weeks so I can try for some better shots.

If you want to slow them down, pour some beer on a surface near them. When I was a kid on a family camping trip, I watched one of my dad’s friends do that on a picnic table, the bees would gather and partake, then stagger around the table. My dad had some weird friends…

It’s that time of year again, when grown men stand in the river up to their armpits…

Two attempts in street photography from yesterday.

Same location, different style.

Walk up The Merrick, a local hill/small mountain, on recent trip to Dumfries and Galloway. Extremely hazy, unfortunately, so had to add a lot of dehaze and contrast. Hence B&W to try to cover my tracks.

That’s not his armpit

Must be a coincidence but I have just been shared this (midly NSFW).

What did I miss? What is the connection of this old joke to this thread?

Armpits

Okay  .

Isn’t it interesting, how quickly a ‘midly NSFW’ received 20+ clicks?

Hmm. Maybe I have a hidden talent for clickbait.
