Rather than sitting at home, we went to the Crannog Centre yesterday. The weather forecast was dry (for the morning at least). What it didn’t mention was the wind, sufficient to raise white horses on Loch Tay.
There was a “Midwinter Festival” event on, with a “Lord of Misrule”, which sounded fun.
We were glad to huddle in one of the huts, to watch a puppet show.
We sponsored the site last year, and have a glass disc in “The Gathering”.
The crannog itself is on its way, and is expected to be complete by the spring next year. The final structure will require 700 trees.
lovely!
On a walk after an overnight storm finished blowing through. There was some interesting spolighting going on but this image doesn’t capture the scene as well as my eyeballs did. I really struggle with adding depth and getting contrasts right in B&W. Well, ok, its not just B&W. Its just worse with B&W ![]()
EDIT: Going to add this photo of a rare Flamigo Heron. It might be the only one in existance!
I particularly like 4847 - and I’m intrigued - are the loose sheets a bunch of old choir music? Is the focussed subject the top of an organ console? Or is it a large lectern? Looks like Bible and/or hymnals bound.
Thanks, I like it too, although felt it was slightly lacking a clear subject. I mentally classed it as an ‘atmosphere’ shot. Pleased you picked it!
Spot on!
Must confess I didn’t actually look closely… will look next time!
My lovely wife was leading the Kristingle service so we were there early to help set up - and I took the opportunity to wander around with the camera ![]()
Walk on the Ümminger Lake this morning, it was cold but very sunny.

Did you try using Capture Sharpening? ![]()
superb!
If you had not done this, I was going to lol!
Non-stop work staring at computer screen and on phone kept me indoors until well after dark. Finally got outside for a bit of fresh air in effort to relax a bit and take a snap or two.
