The sun comes up from behind the camera and I’ve seen the golden-hour beautifully reflected in this building a few times. That blue to golden hour period would indeed be a nice transition to capture.
I don’t have any experience doing time-lapse photography, though. And I know from experience that the golden-hour and that particular glass and steel high-rise creates some interesting problems all of its own…
If I can be indulged, here’s what I consider to be a much better shot. I went back out again today and shot it at a more appropriate aperture (f/8, not f/5.6) and from a lower viewpoint on a tripod. The light was less direct, it was blustery (although not cold) and the rougher water had a steely grey color. But somehow that seems to fit better with this old relic. The background also works better for me in this one.
I thought of Hopper and his night images while thinking about this shot. This is the best one of my tries to get
a fast food shop
around the blue hour
distinct difference in the light inside and outside
people inside
and people outside who just walk by.
I have here three others, which are clearly work in progress. I’ll get rid of the orthogonal viewpoint and get a Night Hawk perspective.
The “Romeo” has to be in there, because I want to name the series “Internationale Küche” (International Cuisine), which has quite a different meaning on the sign of greasy spoon. It needs to be done a bit earlier in the day, But there is a construction site in front just now.
This is a very interesting project. In the third image, the bright red “S” logo sign provides a dynamic element giving visual movement to the (otherwise static) image.
Thanks, and not at all! Just my usual darktable 4.2.
It’s another image from the evening where I took a recent Play Raw image

Hot dogs and crepes… In Brittany, the staple street food is a hot sausage rolled in a buckwheat crêpe (a.k.a. “galette-saucisse”). Talk about a missed opportunity…
