[Capture Challenge] Charge your battery and take some photos

I always forget about the Chrome filter.

After like a month of solid cloud cover, the sun finally peeked out a bit this afternoon. And since my daughter happened to be over, I grabbed her and we zipped over to the park. We totally missed the actual sunshine, but the sky was still awesome.

It’s me again. This morning was sunny, so I went downtown to take some photos that had been on my mind for a while. Unfortunately, I was too late again; by the time I got there, the sun had already hidden behind a layer of clouds.

I want the sun to get nice shadows and a blue sky in the picture. Well, maybe another time.

One of photos from today is the National Museum in Krakow:

And across the street, the Cracovia Stadium:

Saw this rather local bit of mist as I was driving home. Luckily I had my camera with me[1] so I dumped my car somewhere, ran up the nearest overpass, and snapped some pics. 10 minutes later this little cloudlet had dissolved.

  1. Luck was not involved, I just try and bring my camera with me all the time, exactly for situations like this. ↩︎

Something you probably remember seeing back in 2024…

Somewhat salty about that stick of whatever in the bottom right corner; I managed to clear up some stuff in the water, but this one eludes me.

And another version …

Prefer this one, personally. Amazing how a different crop and switch to monochrome can substantially change the focus and meaning. From the dramatic sky in the first version to the tree with a broken branch in the second. I think the second works better because it has a feeling of surviving adversity. Still standing.

We went into Perth yesterday, we have never been in for Chinese New Year before

While the guys with the dragon are obviously not Chinese, there were Chinese activities in the council offices.

Our visit to Perth was yet another Mary, Queen of Scots event in the museum.

However, I was much more interested in another exhibition in the library, which had this poem:

There was also a section on Liz Lochead’s play Mary Queen of Scots Got Her Head Chopped Off

I’ve been to Amstedam recently for work and I had a full ‘day for me’ that I’ve spend, partially , to take this photo I wanted to make.

Ok, so I did go out and take some photos… But this is from two weeks back. Still in a bit of a rut currently regarding photography, and access to time for it.
But I did have a bit of time the other week to check out a new waterfall near where I stay for work.
I spotted this one with the drone prior, and then found a decent route to it. Bit of a scramble to get there, but I’ll be checking this one out again soon.

Spent the morning chasing fog on the sound. Didn’t find it as thick as I hoped.
