[Capture Challenge] Charge your battery and take some photos

Zurich is beautiful! I guess the snow is a bit late.

Yes, the old town is beautiful; the area where we live also has its perks.

So, I was looking after the kids in our backyard this afternoon and I took the 500mm Tokina with me and did some shots, just to “take some photos”. Maybe somebody enjoys them…

edit: yeah, sensor noise - going to clean up right now

That bokeh… :doughnut: :doughnut: :doughnut:
Must be a mirror lens! Nice and sharp. The Moon looks great.

Love the sequence of horns, with the bigger one and the end.

The old town certainly seems much more photogenic and the Christmas stall goes with it better. Reminds me of a couple of Advent seasons I had in Bremen’s old town centre in the 1990s. The smell of the Gluewein and the Kartoffelpuffer are, alas, missing.

My eye missed the “Full HD:” descriptor and I did a quick DuckDuckGo search, and came up with a rather disturbing descriptor for what was in the measuring jug! I’m much more comfortable with the screen resolution descriptor!

@Kofa - you are as old as you feel, or as your kitchen scale mocks you!

Ha! I’m kind of familiar with that kind. One has to be careful letting dogs off lead in rural areas here as you don’t always know where fox baits may have been laid. 1080…

That is disturbing, indeed. However, the measuring/mixing jug contained the beginnings of chocolate cream, which is only dangerous if consumed in copious quantities.

That’s exactly what made me take the photo. I found the scene kind of surreal. And Santa’s hats come as a bonus :slightly_smiling_face:

Yeah, the bokeh is a bit funny  In some situations it isn’t so bad looks actually interesting. Here is an abstract picture, sunset behind a tree (out of focus) - it shows what the bokeh looks like…

It’s a fun, short and lightweight lens, the close distance adds, but the fixed F8 removes some flexibility.

I don’t think I’m very good at hanging Christmas lights. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

No, I don’t know what the “Z” stands for… unless it’s a new Nikon

Kind of like it, the contrast between the chrismast lights and the unlikely context it’s used in.
Nice black and white, the blacks masks and let stand out the subject without looking “murky” or I mean more pitch unpleasant black (english is not my native language) ?

Thanks, yes I pushed the contrast a bit as I liked the simplicity of letting the shadow detail disappear. It helped with noise too!

I wonder why you all got this clear light…
here it is just the road to nowhere

Should be fine as long as you’re not in Ukraine

Kind of following on from my shot of the Bega clock tower, here’s a shot from Cooma, my nearest town. Nowhere in particular, I was just looking out for nice light and composition.
Actually taken here, looking south down Vale St, if anyone is that interested.

I’m rather put out about the mis-aligned power lines…

Two from the city, yesterday (snapped with the phone).

If you look carefully, you can spot Santa’s angelic helper at the front of the tram (she’s somewhat obscured by reflections).
