Thank you to both of you. I will update to OS26.
It is clear that the M chips are here to stay, thus if we want to stay with Apple we have to adapt…
I don’t get that mouning - if you want stay with intel mac no one can hinder you doing it. Even not Apple…
There’s no known impossibility to build stuff for Intel Macs … even recent darktable versions can be runned on about 13 years old macs
Which one mourning or moaning?
THX for your effort … works great for me .
Hey folks. I’m sure I’m doing something stupid - but I just tried to update to 5.3 (arm64) linked above. I’ve tried it several times, and each time it pops up an error stating it is “damaged” and suggests I trash it.
5.2 works just fine. Any suggestions? Appreciate the help.
Scott
Have you followed the instructions by running the necessary terminal commands?
Thanks for the reply.
I put this into terminal: " xattr -c <path/to/application.app> "
I didn’t try the other things listed became they seemed like options.
The last several versions I have installed all went smoothly (other than giving it permissions in system settings).
Sorry, forgot to mention that when I tried to allow the execution in terminal - it spit back that “no such file or directory” exists. So I’m obviously doing something horribly wrong. Sorry for the rookie mistakes here.
Sorry folks. I’m an idiot. I mistyped in terminal. Got it to open now. Thanks for your patience.
I guess the last question is whether I do need to do anything different with the libraries? Or can I continue as I have in the past?
if you have a quite recent macOS version, then you’ll need to do it with each new package since these packages aren’t notarized
current master 5.3.0 build + Canon R1 and R5mII support by Adding new camera support in darktable / LibRaw / ExifTool – Pandas Welt + a couple of RF lensfun data from: Kameratrollet
darktable-5.3.0+617~ge5164d7f4f_arm64.dmg (macOS >= 11.3)
darktable-5.3.0+617~ga71637bb97_x86_64.dmg (macOS >= 10.14)
you might run it with an in-memory library via terminal:
/Volumes/darktable/darktable.app/Contents/MacOS/darktable --library :memory:
or use a separate config directory:
/Volumes/darktable/darktable.app/Contents/MacOS/darktable --configdir ~/.config/darktable_test
also keep in mind that if you don’t disable writing sidecar files these can be messed up
both packages are unsigned, you might need to allow execution via terminal: " xattr -c <path/to/application.app> "

THX Sir … for keeping the version very much updated !!!
Very kind of you … to put all the effort in this.
Andreas
Yes, up to date with the “Halloween Treat”
. Cool
!
I agree. This port is stable and “just works”. OSX users appreciate the effort and support.
The best and most important part , for me personally , is the camera support … which is not available in any other build , as far as I know!!!
So once again a big thumbs up for Martin !!!
R5mII and R1 support will be soon in all dev builds since libraw just published ar candidate for their next release with that support.
That´s even better … good news
