darktable 5.4.0 released

The issue is still there.

Installing again v 5.2.1 is ok but when I reinstall the new version the issue come back

Does this problem still occur after switching the interface language to English?

There’s a bug report here claiming it’s caused by AgX. Can you confirm that?

No problem here.
Thanks to the darktable team!

Is caused by a bad Italian translation, visible on the primaries page, fixed in the nightly build.

Hi, if anyone has any experience with working with homebrew, I’m trying to update it to the latest version, but I’m not sure how to handle the fact that darktable no longer officially supports intel on mac (to the best of my understanding).

I made a post here to discuss it: darktable 5.4.0 - updating homebrew advice

Have Win11 and for some reason 5.4 will just not launch; had to uninstall and go back to 5.2. Not sure if it’s just my system. Would like to try 5.4, but for now will stick with the version that works.

Win11 alone can’t be the reason. 5.4. runs smoothely on my surface with win11 home.

It’s working fine on Windows 11 here.

A couple of versions back I experienced issues with an upgrade refusing to launch. I uninstalled darktable, renamed its original installation folder, then re-installed. This worked for me and it picked up on my previous preferences from AppData. It might be worth a try.

Alternatively, this portable version as provided by Dave Goldberg will serve as a stop-gap. Just unzip it and launch the program via run_dt.bat

I think I have stumbled upon a minor AgX quirk. If I open a module that contains tabs, such as color balance rgb, or color calibration, when I click on the tabs the module’s header (its name and icons etc), remains visible above the tabs, With AgX, when a tab is clicked, the header slips upwards and out of view. This is happening on my installed Windows 5.4 and the portable Window 5.3 that Dave Goldberg provided.

you can use this x86_64 build: darktable 5.4.0 for older macOS versions (intel: 10.14 & silicon: 11.3 and later)

AgX ist fairly large vertically; is this maybe cause by too little vertical space in your right column?

Thanks - that’s it! Even though I use a small font and have my histogram on the left, it is the length of AgX that’s causing the issue. If I close its lower options, the header remains visible. I may be persuaded to try its 3-tab darktablerc option.

Thank you darktable team. The new version with agx seems promising. For me it’s working fine without any issues in Linux Mint Zara. :metal:

Since Linux Arch is not on the list, does that mean that the latest Darktabke is not available on CachyOS?

I don’t know what list you mean, but it’s indeed likely that 5.4.0 isn’t available (yet) for all distributions. In some cases because the packagers haven’t had time to create the binaries, in some because there isn’t a packager.

If 5.2 was available for your distribution, wait a week (or two) to see if the binaries appear.

Time to properly play around with Agx (this time I haven’t built from source even once) and, if it’s as good as it seems, remap my MIDI controller to replace the Sigmoid controls.

the lua script lua-scripts/examples/x-touch.lua at master · darktable-org/lua-scripts · GitHub has a basic support for AgX…
