Here’s a quick video on how to make that white “exposure checking” border smaller:

You lost me with “peasants”

Hi

Just a thing: in windows the configuration file is called darktablerc like it is on the other 2 operating systems and not darktablerc.txt as it appears on your video.
And, congratulations on this very useful video.

Best regards,

It was just a joke but I understand not everyone likes that sort of humour. My channel is not for everyone I guess.

Thanks for the correction, I’ll put that in the video description!

thx for the content

I created a new video with all the most important features from Darktable 4.8:

Here’s a video on how to use Rawtherapee in conjunction with Darktable to solve some of Darktable’s denoising problems:

That is interesting, haven’t really had a problem like that on my images! Would you mind sharing the raw file with me? I’m curious to why this happens and I have been trying to learn more about demosaicing and noise this summer.

The problem only happens with certain very high ISO images. Actually, with most of my images, I don’t see a problem because I’m usually around ISO 3200 or below. Although I prefer not to share this Raw, you can replicate it simply by taking a very high ISO image with a lot of noise and then using the standard profile denoise with wavelets.

I would also be very interested in one sample of the raws you have problems with regarding noise to analyse the raw data before demosaic.

Tried LMMSE here? For me this is often better than default for high chroma noise.

No profile for denoise-profiled?

For very high noise we also have raw denoise. Not sufficient?

Of course I use LMMSE. And of course, my camera has a noise profile. Not really interested in Raw denoise as an overall solution as it erodes detail also.

Made a new Darktable 5.0 intro:

Nice summary done in short total duration.

Thanks, Martin. That’s my primary aim, just straight to the point without any padding!

I made a Rawtherapee tutorial on denoising:

I know it’s not darktable but I included it here because often as a darktable user I turn to Rawtherapee to get rid of certain kinds of noise where I think Rawtherapee does a bit better than DT.

Well then post in Rawrgherapee and link here if you want but I don’t see this has ok to have Rawtherapee videos here. If everybody start posting videos for other software here it will become quite a mess :frowning:

Okay, I’ll create a new Rawtherapee thread. But it is unlikely that others will post videos here from RT, or create RT threads and label them as DT since I created this thread just for my tutorials. There doesn’t seem to be another case where anyone would be likely to just randomly create RT content and label it as DT.

Great video. Fast, easy to understand. Concise. Thank you!

Thanks, @Steven_Adler1 . Also I’ve got another video on cropping:
