darktable for Windows

Thanks a lot ! I could have thought about it, but it’s not in the logic of a windows install.
A drop-down box with the contents of the profile system directory would have made more sense.
cordially

Ok, thanks a lot ! In principle, uninstalling only removes the files originally installed.
Cordially.

I have tested it before for about 30 seconds. But now with the new version after reboot, I don’t know the config remains (plugins/lighttable/low_quality_thumbnails=FALSE) I have no idea why but anyway :grinning:

I used notepad++

I did not know that additional log :slight_smile: So here are the results (ech time the XMP file has been deleted before starting dt and importing the image):

Those look all good to me. I suppose that in all three cases darktable puts the image on the correct spot on the map for you?

@csierra02: Did you try the latest build? I would really like to see the debug output with French settings, i.e., when dt fails.

Yes, all three cases properly appeared on the map

@houz

Yes I installed the latest build and imported the jpg file.
Conditions : windows 10 number settings in French and dt in French
Place on the map was correct. I then imported a raw file with the GPS
cordinates in the xmp file. Correct place : Cape Verde Islands.
dt put the picture to the East, at about Sudan.
Let me know where I can find the debug information for you.

The filename is darktable-log.txt. Here that’s put into C:/Users/<username>/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows/Temporary Internet Files/darktable/ but other Windows versions have slightly different locations for that temp folder.
Just find the file, delete it, start darktable, import the images, close darktable, then grab the newly created file and show us what’s in there.

I searched for the file for 1/2 hour but did not find it at Users/User
Name/Appdata…Not sure it exists

Did you try using the search box in the Windows Explorer (top right) to search your whole C: drive?

If I may suggest a freeware, but not open source program, I am using Everything, a lightweight and very fast searching tool. If you know (a part of) the file/folder name, you can locate it instantly.

(Sorry for the interruption.)

On Windows 10 this is the location:
C:\Users[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\darktable

Here we go

darktable-log.txt (662 Bytes)

BTW, how can i set folders on top in import/move window?

These coordinates in the log are matching exactly the other log. Were the pictures located properly on the map?

For that the /share/glib-2.0/schemas/org.gtk.Settings.FileChooser.gschema.xml file should be modified (key “sort-directories-first”), and then the updated schema should be compiled by glib-compile-schemas.exe. Unfortunately that tool is not included in the GTK runtime or in dt installer.

Just a wild guess: Is there an .gpx file in the image folder?

First I want to thank you for your work on porting darktable to windows. Its really useable already, but I found a minor glitch using multiple masks:

You can see the little popup which should show my masks with their names is transparent. Maybe its more a guiframeworkbug than a problem in darktable. You can still click it and select masks though.

At least in your screenshot I don’t see any transparency.

After some more testing I think Ive just got confused by the look of the popup. So its not a bug. :sweat_smile:
