Default Processing Profiles - how to use?

Hello to all,

I’m new to RT, I migrated from LR. I want to use an old lens of mine that’s not covered in the lens database and need to make a default profile for it.

It’s a Canon EF 20-35mm 2.8 L and I want to compensate for vignettin

g and distortion. So I made several profiles that deal with it from 20 to 35mm and saved them to the “Settings/profiles” folder.

Then, in “Preferences->Dynamic Profile Rules” I created an entry for each profile I made and in “Preferences->Image Processing” I set "“Default Processing Profile->For raw photos” to “(Dynamic)”.

I assume when clicking on the thumbnail of a photo for the first time (or after clearing the processing profile it should use those newprofiles if the photo was taken with that lens.

Obviously I’m missing something because nothing happens.

Maybe anyone can help?

I think the name of lens seen by RT is different then the one you use. Check in the META data which name RT sees…

Thank you. I think you can see this in the right portion of the screenshot (that’s why I included it in the screenshot). One of the images taken with the lens is in the editor, the lens’s name is “EF20-35mm f/2.8L”.

That value you mean is the already interpreted representation of what RT sees

In addition: Did you check if ADOBE DNG Converter has a matching entry for your camera and lens?

Here is the meta data.

In my case it looks like this

How did you get this view?

Well that is my dynamic settings for the for my 70-300 Tamron. It took me a while to figure out the real name. I’m just trying to remember where I got the exact name from …

Well, I just checked one of the raw images in ExifToolGui

In the .CR3 RAW file it also says “EF20-35mm f/2.8L”. Also Canon’s RAW converter DPP shows the same.

Well, then the error is something different. What I can see is, that your settings have gaps

Which profile do you expect to find, when the focal length is 33.1?

Well, in “Preferences->Dynamic Profile Rules” the Profile Rule editor allows for a from and a to value (please see the screenshot in my first post). So I assume if the from value is 32 and the to value is 33 it would at least apply the profile to all focal lengths between and including 32 and 33. Or maybe RT even interpolates?

I do not agree. Your intervals should look like
{61C0451E-6C0A-44D6-83B7-09B589418B12}

So what do you think I should try?

Take one image, check the focal length in the image and check which profile it finds. and then adjust the interval which should be found.

Is this the way to check it?. There is no 33.4 - it will always be either 33 or 34. Only whole numbers, 20.00, 21.00, 22.00 …

And for the profile, well, it doesn’t apply any. Most likely because it doesn’t find any.

Never mind, I added my lens to the lensfun database. This works.

Did you set these values:

in Einstellungen/Verzeichnisse?

Thank you. Yes, they point to “Settings/profiles”. But I think this is not applicable because the relevant profile is directly applied in the Dynamic Profile Rule editor (THe documentation does not say something about those two folder paths:
