My screensaver threw up a minimal, black and white image of planks on a beach. It made me think of a picture I took in New Brighton, on the other side of the Mersey to Liverpool.

Thank you for yet another great image to play with. Two versions - the first to see what I could do with it as a colour image - The second black and white. As usual done in GIMP.

Some more playing around with layer masks in GIMP. It’s a distinctive look that departs significantly from the source image, but I believe that images like this one can benefit greatly from being processed for a certain “look” rather than just straightforward accurate color grading.
