in case it could be useful for someone else, find attached a preset I made aiming to control shadows boost and highlights attenuation using an approach alternative to using the DT standard Shadows and highlights module.
Using my approach, often I’m able to obtain better results in less time, see if it works for you too 
The preset consists simply of two tone mapping modules, one for attenuating the highlights and one for boosting the shadows, “tweaked” ad hoc: simply load the preset and use the opacity slider of the two modules for a more or less pronounced effect.
