How to handle versions from external editor

I am a new user to digiKam, familiarizing myself with all the options and tools.

Right now I try to find a workflow to “connect” images from an external editor to the out-of-camera original files.

Say I have a IMG-1234.DNG which has been processed by DxO to produce IMG-1234_DxO.jpg

Is there a way in digiKam to show that the jpg is a version, a derivative, of the DNG file?

So far I found that versioning is supported for images processed by the digiKam editor, but I found no references in the documentation to versioning of images processed by external editors.

How do other users handle this?

Thanks for any suggestion,

Manusz.

Hi @Manusz

as I wrote in this other thread, I am also very new to digikam and there is still a lot for me to explore. So please excuse me if I am missing something.

To my knowledge, there is no function that (automatically) links externally created JPGs to the corresponding RAWs.

At the moment I am testing the grouping function to link my Jpgs to the original RAWs. It works quite well for my needs. I also like the fact that you can assign keywords for all group members at the same time. However, the grouping process has to be started manually, but that is not a problem for me.

Cheers, Roland

Thank you for your suggestion.

Manually grouping was as far as I got after a while as well.
In my folder layout it is somewhat clumsy as the derived files are in a subfolder of the raw files. Not impossible to do, but I hoped there would be an automated way
