I just found I couldn’t access RawPedia (rawpedia.rawtherapee.com) today, but I can still open rawtherapee.com, so are there some problems going on with RawPedia?
Up for me, just not very fast.
Thanks, I thought of the possibility of internet issue on my side (“Internet” in China is not ideal for accessing foreign websites sometime), but I tried web proxy with no luck. I’m not sure what is going on here.
Down for me as well, in the UK.
Down also in Germany.
Yes, down for me too (in UK) - went down yesterday evening.
Down in the USA!
you can also use something like https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ for any site to see
Your link reports the site is down for everyone
Does anyone have a recent copy of the pdf version they could post somewhere? I tried the wayback machine, but it looks like it’s still struggling with the attack on the Internet Archive.
rawtherapy’s site is up, but slow responding. the subdomain is really having issues. If that is on a separate machine or drive, it may be a hardware issue.
Not responding at all for me.
This is one of the few things we actually don’t host. We were looking at transitioning the mediawiki instance to a static site, but there are some complex authoring requirements that mediawiki satisfies reasonably well.
still timing out without a response here
is that something outsiders could help with? reformatting source documents or something, or does it require more technical work?
The issue is that authors on rawpedia write in multiple source languages, and then those pages are translated into other languages. Mediawiki keeps track of this reasonably well, and last time we inquired, that is the workflow they wanted.
That workflow would be unmaintainable in a static site generator (like we use for almost everything else), and they did not want to migrate their mediawiki instance to our hosting.
That is all their choice and perfectly fine with us here at pixls.
just to clarify, meaning English, French, Spanish; or markdown, html, rst?
Yes, different people author source material in English, French, and Spanish. Right now the authoring format is Mediawiki markup, though that can be converted to other things with relative ease. Keeping track of what is the source language, what is a translation, and keeping it all in sync is not so easy in a static site.
After patiently waiting for RawPedia to come back online, I’m just wondering if anyone is actually attempting to bring it back online? As a new RawTherapee user (and new to post processing in general) I’ve been limping along but it sure would be easier if I could RTFM
checked just now and it works for me
You can apparently access one of the recent snapshots on the Wayback Machine. https://web.archive.org/web/20240718103828/http://rawpedia.rawtherapee.com/Main_Page
EDIT: you can download the July snapshot as a PDF
