I recently downloaded Hugin to create a Panoramic view of (4) images I recently took.
I followed the assistant and started by uploading my images. Once uploaded I see all (4) images on the preview screen. Now comes the two questions:
During the blend process to create the panoramic, the program starts and then stops after a minute or so and says “not responding”. If I hit close program, and then go to the directory I chose for the image to be created the image is there, but then when I open that file in Hugin, question #2 below
The program open ups and the grid in the center of the screen is in a long, tall, vertical format and my image is very small and in a horizontal format at just the top of the grid.
I have watched a few videos and it appears I am doing things correctly. The videos all show the grid almost filling out the entire screen, with the stitched image in place properly showing how it was cropped etc.
Are there any step by step videos or instructions I can follow to correct my issues and help me to use this program?
I will give that a try, but will I be able to move the grid to a horizontal position so when the photo is finished, the photo will fit the length of the grid as I have seen in many videos, or is the grid layout a preference setting that I can adjust?\
I can move the very small blended photo within the grid, but the photo is horizontal and the grid is vertical.
Any ideas as to why the program stops during the blending process?
Downloaded Hugin long ago (Win 7) and found the GUI way less than obvious, so you are not alone. So I only use a couple of it’s options in the command-line, mainly the align one.
Align and then create a panorama is all im trying to do. The grid on the preview screen is vertical which is not good since the panorama is horizontal.
Select from the menu Fast Panorama Preview and the Projection tab. There is a Fit button, that will do the magic. You can then fine tune the position in Move/Drag tag, and Crop the image in the last tab if needed.
Ok I didn’t touch the computer at all. There are only 4 images and at 7 minutes, still nothing.
In the Stitching dialog box all 4 images show Loading, Remapping, Saving.
Then at the bottom it shows “Blending Images…”
Then nothing. I have to close the program and reopen.
@aptillie , in what mode do you use the UI? There are different modes from beginner to expert. For the first tries, I’d surely just go with the beginner mode (still, it should not just get stuck in any mode – it may create the wrong results if you set something wrong, but not get stuck).
If I remember correctly, there’s even a wizard - have you tried that?
How do I find what mode to use? Basically I have followed 1load images 2,align and 3 create. Its at the create step where it starts to blend then nothing, then says not resonding and i have to close the program.
When I reopen and pick the image I was working on, it appears very small on the screen. I can then only adjust where it goes and crop but can’t find where I can save that image.
Your process looks OK, it’s also what I use.
When you start blending, there should be a new window showing the progress of the alignment etc. I can send you an example in the evening (not that I expect it to solve your issue, though).
Hugin can use a GPU; do you have one? Are your drivers OK? I think the feature has to be enabled manually, at least that was the case in the past (see panorama - Hugin, multicore CPU and optional GPU - Super User).
Not sure about the GPU. I assume drivers are all OK. How would I be able to find out. I use darktable to process and Qimage to print with no issues using those. (Hope i didn’t just jinx myself)
