Open With menu - Digikam 5.9.0 AppImage

Hello,

I’m running Linux Mint 19 and I could’nt find a deb package for the latest Digikam release. So I download the appimage from the official site.

I’m used to use “Open With” menu a lot to open image in Rawtherapee or Gimp directly from Digikam but with the Appimage, this menu is empty and I don’t find a way to populate it.

Is there a deb package of Digikam I’m not aware of ? Or is there a way to populate the Open With menu ?

I believe this is a known limitation of the AppImage bundle. As far as dep packages, the debian testing one is at 5.9.0, no idea whether that helps for Mint: digikam - Debian Package Tracker

Thank you @rasimo for pointing me to the debian repository :+1:

I download digikam-5.9.0 source package from Debian Buster and libmediawiki-5.37.0 from Ubuntu Cosmic.

  • Compile and install libmediawiki-5.37.0 deb package
  • Compile and install digikam-5.9.0 deb package

I now have a working Digikam 5.9.0 version running fine under Linux Mint 19 :tada:
