Problem using the Photoflow's GIMP plugin

Hi there,

First of all, hats off to the creator of Photoflow for creating this software.

I got a problem using the Photoflow plugin. I installed both GIMP and Photoflow using the gimp-edge ppa. http://ppa.launchpad.net/otto-kesselgulasch/gimp-edge/ubuntu

I can open the Photoflow plugin from within GIMP and did the edits just fine. However, whenever I did any edits and clicked “ok”, the output got all messed up, like this: https://www.flickr.com/photos/gogogo123/28463864044

Does anyone know what could have possibly gone wrong? Thanks.

If you are interested in the (corrupted) xcf file, here it is.: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32202993/28978873292_8c36bddab6_o.xcf

The underlying photo was just obtained from public domain. Llorente Bus - Scania L113CLL Hispano n°61 (1) | Scania L113… | Flickr

Thanks in advance!!

Yikes! Let’s poke @Carmelo_DrRaw and see if he can shed some light on this. :smiley:

For the moment I would suggest to test the PhF plug-in from my AppImage, and not the gimp-edge PPA, for the simple reason that the PhF version in the PPA is not updated very often, while the AppImage is in synch with the latest stable version.

I have downloaded and opened the corrupted .xcf file with the AppImage, and re-run the plug-in from it, and all worked correctly. Here is the result:

The link to the latest AppImage can be found here, together with instructions on how to install and use it.

The GIMP version in the AppImage can be safely used in parallel with the one from the PPA, because it uses a custom configuration folder and therefore it does not mix with the “normal” GIMP version.

Hope this helps!

Thanks !!! :smiley: :smiley: :smiley:

@Carmelo_DrRaw.

Thanks a lot. The appimage works like a charm! Though the included GIMP feels a bit slower than my compiled version but it’s something I can live with.

If you have plenty of ram, I believe appimage unpacks to /tmp you could try putting /tmp in ram.
