Problem with the grain module in ART 1.25.5

Hello, on version 1.25.5 of Art, I’m encountering a problem with the GRAIN module.
On this version, adding grain no longer works properly, and the module adds vertical lines and unsightly patterns.
Tested on Ubuntu and Windows, the result was identical.
On the attached image extract, we are at 100% and the module settings are default.

Thanks, I’ll take a look

Hi @RioMatDav, I’m not able to reproduce the problem. Can you please share a raw file and arp sidecar showing the bug?

Thanks!

Me neither, using default settings and “extreme” settings. Filmgrain works as usual…

Thanks for the feedback. I’m testing again tonight after work, French time :grinning: and will provide the necessary for analysis.

I’m also getting some patterns in ART, but apparently only in ART’s preview. They don’t seem to be exported.

In fact, the problem is only visible in the ART preview. Not on the output image.

OUTPUT

As I didn’t have this behavior in previous versions, I think I hadn’t tried to output a jpeg from ART.

I’ve attached the raw file used for this last test, but whatever the raw, it’s the same behavior.

Thanks to all,

Hello, this is my preview at 100%, I don’t see any patterns.
ART latest (self compiled) on Xubuntu 24.04.3.

I also don’t see any pattern – I tried both a self-compiled macOS build and the “official” windows installer of 1.25.5.
I do not have the specific LUT you are using for Film Simulation though. What happens if you turn it off?

ART throws an error msg indeed, “Error reading LUT”, but it can be selected by hand in Film simulation - B&W - Kodak - Tri-X 400 3 Alt. Perhaps this read problem has to do with white spaces in that filename.

Not related to the pattern problem imo.

The error is definitely not related to the pattern problem. However, I’m asking whether turning off the LUT still shows the problem for the OP…

Hello,

Here’s the result with just a neutral profile applied and the GRAIN module activated.

The patterns are still present in ART and not in the jpeg output.

As a reminder, this happens whatever the RAW, on ART version 1.25.5 whether on an updated Ubuntu 24.04 or an updated Windows 11. Downloaded versions are all official binaries. No master, no compilation.

Thanks for the extra info. I’ll see if I can find something

No issue at all on my machine running Manjaro Linux, tried both with a 1 month old and with the latest source code.
