Random thoughts and finds...

Oh, I know that problem :D.
To maybe more easily handle these cases of many mostly identical pictures, I’d like to have a culling tool, that shows you different pairs of pictures side by side and you for each you have to choose the better one. Based on this, some ranking could be made (e.g. with OpenSkill) from which then the best can be chosen.
Unfortunately, something like this doesn’t seem to exist yet (at least I didn’t find anything), and I won’t have the time to implement it myself anytime soon…

How about “wuh wuh wuh”?

Wait… I guess since there are two points in each W it would actually be “wuhwuh” “wuhwuh” “wuhwuh” so never mind. That would take forever to say…

Culling easy when one knows what one wants.

It is not for everyone, but image analysis can be automated. Start with something simple. File properties tell us certain things about an image even without opening it. Timestamp for instance can help us group bracket shots, burst shots or photo sessions. File size can help us estimate the quality of an image. Sort or tag based on attribute conditions.

Naturally, one can go down a rabbit hole with feature detection, quality assessment and composition evaluation, as well as categorization. One could even factor salience into the equation to ensure the subjects are prominent and clean.

PS. I volunteered with someone who literally took thousands of photos per recurring day/evening event throughout the year and would ask me year-end to pick the best for them. It was a nightmare, but I helped her and her other little helpers to reduce that number to a human-manageable amount.

That same person was predisposed to getting viruses and/or phished, so I would also have to recover most of the said images.

I don’t cull, 'cept for inadvertent captures, although one I got literally from the hip was a good portrait of my son.

I tend to frame, focus and snap one capture, then move on to the next thing, so I don’t end up with a lot of replication. But my wife, hand her the camera and I end up with a series I could paste together into a 24fps video clip. And, I keep 'em all… :grimacing:

‘Hex-you’, ‘hexayou’, ‘sixyou’ / ‘sexyou’ or ‘you lot’ or simply ‘yous’ would be even shorter.

Do we?
I noticed a trend of first omitting the https:// then the www. part as well.

And now who says a domain at all? Normal peapole type everything into a search engine anyways.
Do modern browsers even have a Domain bar?
I think its all Search bar by default

Isn’t https:// omitted until you click the search/address bar? Or do you mean something else

It’s verbally omitted.
No one says this ans most (normal users) don’t Type or even think this.

for normal users It’s all in “apps” or accessed by google search

A certain US president made it easier (for him) to say: "Dubya Dubya Dubya."

There might be one of these within your raw file as a preview file. You could extract it using Exiftool if needed.

I am no longer happy about this. Turns out it’s every item entering the EU and they don’t group a lot of items together. For example, if you buy 10x1 1k ohm resistors( and 10x1 10k ohm resistors, you will pay 3€ per line in the receipt.

Example:

Portuguese Store:
10x 10kR 0.25W ±5% = 0.95€

Tayda:
10kr 1/4W 1% = 0.15€ + (0.15*0.24) + 3€

Since the tariff makes no distinction between items types or groups, everyone will suffer. I get taxing item types that are made in EU (clothing), but tell me which EU company produces electronic components, PCBs, etc. This instantly kills a lot of hobby projects as costs quickly skyrocket and you are better off buying finished items, even from China our outside the EU, since they will be cheaper. I sure as hell am not buying electronic components from Portuguese companies which are just Chinese items with a 10x markup. Companies will benefit from this and individuals will be hurt.

Maybe Tayda Electronics will find a way around this, such as creating bundle items and so on in their receipts, which might be a way around this.

Another point is that 3€ for a German is a lot less than for a Portuguese or a Greek. Once again southern European countries are hurt due to having a shared currency with rich European countries. The same poor countries which resort more to importing due to having less means to buy European products.

What a fantastic way to bolster support for the Union at a time when it is already this fragile.

Sure, why casually build a camera out of a Pir —this project is mainly aimed at video feeds, rather than photography, but still, neat.

I guess the intention is precisely to discourage these kind of purchases. Because of some ancient postal agreements, these were shipped below cost. Shipping a small package from China was/is cheaper than shipping to the same address from the neighboring city. Also, the volume made customs control very challening.
