Separate the object from the background with masks in darktable?

LR does this in a few seconds, however as a dt user I want to this in dt. Unfortunately I have no luck with this picture. Who will give it try?

Below the masking in Lightroom, almost perfect.

I am not on computer now but I often found the colour similarity mask (based on delta E mask) in ART to be very quick at masking shapes, often just with a single click with a pipette then adjust the range setting slightly.
I wonder if this was ever considered for darktable. Perhaps might be seen as an unnecessary complication and too much work…?
