This is such a nice photo, one more edit. Now a much more conservative edit with ART, GIMP and G’MIC:

I have been scanning several thousand 35mm slides that were taken by an uncle of mine (passed a few years ago) that had recently been discovered his children. While reviewing them this morning I almost choked when I saw this:

This was taken about 40 years ago but unable to shed light on the location. Small world.

If you remove the color cast from this photo (I couldn’t resist, I hope you don’t mind.), you get the following result. I liked it for comparison. But I still prefer the photo with the color cast because otherwise you suck the soul out of an old photo. Keep scanning though to keep the soul from getting too old.

I don’t mind at all - thanks for your interest.

Also gave this roll sensor a try. Apologies to @Popanz

My favourite jpeg-only software was in use. Free, but unfortunately not open source

Let me guess…, “JPG-Illuminator”? It may be wrong, but it’s nice software.

I couldn’t upload the sidecar file unfortunately

My go at it. I wanted to make it a bit more dreamy so I added some negative clarity. I achieve negative clarity by using the contrast equalizer with a parametric mask so it mostly affects the midtones.

I think this more closely mimics what Lightroom does when adjusting clarity
