Stac Pollaidh, with a flat sky

I am curious was it windy when you took the photo. Assume it was after it is Scotland.

It was just before Storm Amy, so yes, the wind was building even if the weather hadn’t closed in.

Is there any particular reason that you are asking?

Hi Collin, hope you’ve gotten a lot of inspiration. Do you know - probably you do but just in case - you may download the xmp files and connect each xmp in darktable to a duplicate? In this way you can see for each and every module used what the settings / masks were that were used to achieve the final result. Kind regards Jetze

Yes, I have been doing this. Nothing more beneficial than stealing ideas

There was a very high contrast in the scene, so I dropped the sky and focused on the colors and sharpening

And one with the sky, but I think it give a bit of an HDR look:

As this is such a beauty and many others rightly made a moody darker version I could not resist to try my luck again.

I only used the look sliders in both instances of the agx-module and brought back the saturation in agx. And made the vignette - on top of agx - a bit stronger.

Two things have to be done in my view: 1) get rid of dust bunnies and 2) improve the mask being used to get rid of the little b/w line just on the edge of mountain and sky. Could not find out (yet) how to do that. Maybe someone has some advice for me?

Yes. The mountain edge against the sky exhibit a bit of chromatic aberrations. The metadata indicates that you took it with a very good lens. So the only other reason was that maybe camera was shaky due to wind. Specially at 1/160 ss. Sometimes even the use of the tripod can not eliminate all the camera shakes. Just curious. I understand That Scotland has a beautiful landscape. Beautiful photo. Thank you for sharing it.

I’m sorry to say I don’t know how to use Agx… This edit was made with filmicRGB.

I never been to Scotland. I know, weather is cold, and as you mentioned, it was just before the Storm Amy, windy and overcast. So I wanted to reflect that mood by choosing the cooler colors. I hope I am close to the colors that you saw at the time you took the photo. BTW, I used Agx
