Now that some of our fellow forum members are already in the year’s last day, I think it’s time to say some thanks.
The experience of being part of the darktable community consists of several elements:
a) The software and the packaging - that we have now at the release of v. 5.0 expressed our gratitude for.
For those of us who don’t participate in the gitHub development effort, it is difficult to know individuals that ought to be mentioned. Some developers come to the attention of us in “the general public” for more visible work like launching new modules etc, but others do less flashy, but as important, work for the overall experience of the software, like optimization. The development effort is anyhow a collective effort over time, ranging back to @hanatos initial work. So I will now have to let @Pascal_Obry, in his coordinating role, be solely mentioned as a representative for all those that do the programming work.
b) The documentation.
Lots of good FOSS programs fall short in that the documentation is really lacking. Although documentation work for darktable isn’t up to date at all times, it’s still a great pleasure and help to have such extensive documentation available, so thanks to @elstoc for all efforts in this area!
c) The forum - without which the darktable experience would be much diminished - for me at least. You all now what it’s like, so I don’t elaborate more on this.
@patdavid, @darix and @paperdigits I’ve understood to provide the hard and soft framework. Thanks!
And thanks to all of you who during the year have contributed in one way or another with postings! There are so many of you, that we can’t list all of you either. Thanks anyhow!
But I do believe/hope, that nobody will be offended if a special thank is extended to @kofa and @priort. You both have over years been very prolific and contributed with numerous explanations and advice in depth and breadth. We are so many who have learned so much from all this.
So: Happy New Year to all of you!
