Tiny mushroom - macro play raw

Apparently I started a new mycophotography hobby yesterday. I’ve been stunned by the results you folks get in your digital darkrooms, and I’m looking forward to learning from you.

Hi @Gerd we generally find it in bad form to offer unsolicited advice. Play raws are for editing, not critiquing. We have a whole category for critiques.

Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

According to Google Lens it could be a Rufous Milkcap, looks like it.

I went for a definitely darker look and richer greens.

Thought I would play with my marbles once again (I know; one trick pony; lol).

Here’s my go. Practicing my masking. Paint stroked the mushroom then dropped surrounding exposure by 2 stops and then emphasized the red in the mushroom and the green in the background. After cropping I couldn’t get the distracting twig out of the lower left corner so retouched, again to practice masking. Beautiful shot, nice work.

My fun with Rawtherapee and GIMP

@lylejk what program are you using for the marble effect. Sort of cool.

All GIMP (with filters) and G’MIC (the filter of filters), Terry. Below’s a tut I posted on how. I did add Bevel Reflect Logo filter to create the marbles (and blended in a bit of Inkscape’s Marble filter; some of my secret sauce that I don’t often share).
