I remember reading, or maybe from an Aurelien video, that -8 and +0 points should stay at 0? Is this not a good practice anymore?

It was here: darktable 3.0 for dummies: hardcore edition. He said at the time that keeping this first and last nodes at zero gave you more natural local contrast results.
