Super Pixel Wicker

ref: http://www.fontplay.com/freephotos/4thfoldern/fp122905-12.jpg

You guessed it; I’m still on my binge. lol

Used G’MIC’s Super Pixel to get the wicker mesh effect. Started out with Layer Offset x/2, y/2, then followed by G’MIC Euclidian to Polar, then ran super pixel, then did inverse Euclidean Polar before going through the wicker process. Next time, I’ll make the seams blend before doing so. :slight_smile:

Creepy! Then I went to the reference image, :crazy_face::scream::dizzy_face:

Unfortunately, the flow of the lines aren’t as smooth as the previous examples. I suppose that is because the source image is more sophisticated.

Also, there’s a cross artifact due to the process I choose, but I wanted a more non-linear transition, and this was a cheap way of achieving it. I’ll try to do better, though, afre. :slight_smile:

Bonjour,

Happy Birthday :o)

Looks promising, samj. I used x/2, y/2 offset followed by e2p then superpixel and reversed it to get a more dynamic change effect but there’s some issues (per what I mentioned earlier) doing this. :slight_smile:

Used a different deformation/recovery technique for this one (thus no cross seam this time). Also added some texture overlay. Yes; still having fun. lol

Also neglected to mention that I add a convolution step (original>dup>run bilateral smoothing on top layer set to grain extract, merge down) setting that result to Grain Merge on the second to last step to add detail (last step being another run of gradient norm; duplicate Convolution layer as needed to get more detail). I do these renders at the seat of the pants so forget the little details sometimes, but this is a big detail so I ask for forgiveness. :slight_smile:

This one is super cool and far less creepy than the last :wink:

Still, I like the creepy, paperdigits. lololol

:smile:

I added a test filter in your folder : lylejk_test_TRW
(make an update)

Very nice the rendering on the last image :o)

Thanks for the update, samj; one heck of a good job (ran it on same target as the last bust image). Appreciate the feedback on the bust too. Sorry that I forgot about the convolution step. :slight_smile:

@lylejk

Bonjour,

To make another G’MIC filter I would need these details:

  • The stages of your creation in chronological order.
  • The name of the filters without using abbreviations (to facilitate my understanding).

Thank you :o)

OK, Samj; made a more detailed tutorial for the Super Pixel method that I used (sans colorized step). :slight_smile:

Reversible deformations.

Posted some at GIMPChat fyi. :slight_smile:

Bonjour,

Here is an effect of the new filter after an update of G’MIC.

Thanks, samj; I’ll share your great stuff with others at GIMPChat. :slight_smile:

Straight filter with offset 25%/75%. :slight_smile:

@lylejk

Bonjour,

Here are some parameters added to the tutorial.

:o)

Yes; 0/0 does address center distortions. Also, do like the quantize option (haven’t shared results, but did play with this setting, samj). Well, soon, I have to head off to work for another 10 hours (work 4 10 hour shifts on weekends). Again, I really do appreciate what you’ve done. My bet is soon David will add it to the art thread. :slight_smile:

Ripple Weave Wicker Rose

Thought I would do both horizontal and vertical ripple distortion this time (didn’t resize, though). Also added simple image overlay to get some added contrast (re-colorized of course for the canvas color). :slight_smile:

@lylejk

Bonjour,

It looks nice.
Did you use the ‘Lylejk Wicker 2’ filter to create this effect?
:o)
