Don’t think I have seen Brazilian music yet, so here’s one of my all time favorites, “Samurai”, by Brazilian singer and composer Djavan, and featuring Stevie Wonder on the harmonica. I think at some point this song was popular on international radios, because the comment section of the video is full of non-Brazilian people praising it. Its a cheerful, groovy song with beautiful lyrics and I hope you guys enjoy!

He’s one of the most seemingly effortless players I’ve heard and he’s always musical. I’m in awe of Tommy Emmanuel but I think Doyle is more consistently musical. Not that Tommy can’t be (and isn’t often) but Doyle never shows off just for the sake of it.

As a late consequence of your post, I bought “Stronghold” today.
According to the owner of our local music store, it was literally the last copy available at their supplier. Delivery took about four weeks, so seems like they had to search in their storage for quite a while . Given that it’s from 1999, I actually didn’t expect that I could still get a new physical copy.
I noticed that the opening track somehow reminds me of the music of Angelo Badalamenti in David Lynch’s movies.
Ah, jeez, has it been 50 years already? Time flies.
I received a copy of the LP from a co-worker for giving her rides home (evening shift work - 1978). It’s mesmerizing.
Years later, as a personal challenge, I learned to play a transcription of his encore “Over the Rainbow” from a concert at La Scala in Milan. Had to learn how to play some of those 11th “jazz cords.” His is a beautiful arrangement.
