What are you listening to?

SRV is so good.

That made me remember an old performance from Danny Gatton’s Redneck Jazz Explosion band, a name that could not better describe their sound.

SRV’s story is so tragic. Just as he was reaching his peak after quitting coke, he dies in a helicopter crash :frowning: Insane player

Ever since watching Koyaanisqatsi I’ve been a big enjoyer of some of Glass’s music. It’s a bit of a shame that those who got inspired by him (Hans Zimmer), never really hit the spot quite right.

Glass’ music can be mesmerizing.

I was fortunate to hear him a number of years ago accompanying the 1931 film “Dracula.” The old film had limited dialog/sound and was a perfect fit for the score.

Glass and his ensemble were behind a semi-opaque screen. When the backstage lights were brought up you could see the band, when darkened the movie was all you could see.

Listening to Boris’ Pink album while debating if I want to go see them on Friday (I do, in fact, want to, but I have been so insanely busy on the weekends lately and this weekend is no exception)

It’s always happy drummer day in my head. I like when they’re having fun!

PG grows on you. A few decades back, when I first heard one of Glass’ compositions, I didn’t really like the repetitive nature of his motifs, but since, I’ve purchased a few of his CDs over the years. This was one of the first pieces of his that I’ve listened to back then by the way and I still like it. Thanks for sharing.

Neil Young is probably my favorite musician and a personal hero of mine. I don’t love all of his music, I don’t agree with everything he’s done, and the PONO was a stupid looking.

But I hope when I’m his age I’m equally as uncompromising about things. From the man who quickly wrote “Ohio” in response to the Kent State shootings over 50 years ago, l can’t imagine how tiring it must be to be feeling those same things today.
