That’s pretty much what top comments say below the video LOL
It sounds like the final boss music… but it is a song for the 1st boss fight ![]()
Now there’s a name I haven’t heard in a while.
“Dancing with tears in my eyes…” ![]()
A man of taste and culture!
I remember listening to The Real Thing endlessly on repeat back in the day, and I was obsessed with watching Mike Patton on stage.
Never played a Persona game before, but I do enjoy its powerful Engrish tunes.
Well, thank you, kind sir ![]()
I wasn’t into music yet when the real thing was released. I was only 9. Got my 1st cd in 91: Use your illusion I. That was the start of the guitar, bass, drums, voice quest. Not so easy in early 90s France when nobody you knew knows anything about rock/metal. No internet either.
Got MTV by chance for a year and found out about Angel Dust, which is still my fav FNM record. Found out about MrBungle much later though.
But things escalated pretty quickly:
From GnR to FNM to Iron Maiden To Slayer to Sacred Reich to Prong to Sepultura to Cathedral to Death to Carcass to Brutal Truth… well.
And at some point i got Atheist’s Unquestionable Presence. Damn. That changed everything back then, everything else was boring lol.
But strangely, now guitar solos bore me. Most Technical Death Metal i hear sounds like early mobile phones ringtones. Except Atheist.
Oh but i also like Tom Petty, Siouxsie, Free, The Wildhearts, Devin Townsend, Melvins, Gov’t Mule, Pink Floyd, Peter Green’s FM, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Captain Beyond… the list is very long. Heres what’s on my phone now ( i don’t stream):
This thread alone makes me feel like the youngest member of the forum lol ![]()
Definitely a man of taste!
Interestingly, GnR was also my gateway into heavier music, although I soon veered away from the thrash / hair metal scene into grunge as soon as it hit. And guitar solos have always bored me quite a bit.
Some great stuff is coming out of France these days. In my current playlist, I have:
6:33
Altesia
Gojira
Lazuli
Perilymph
Siiilk
Woodkid
… among others.
Altesia and siiilk sound nice, i’ll probably listen to more of them.
Woodkid sounds ok too, i like percussions and drums, sounds atmospheric, not sure about the voice. Would probably stick to stuff like Heilung.
I actually have an exception in the music i like: i can’t stand songs in french. They always sound bad to me.
The only french bands i like are very few and sing in english, or just speak in french:
Supuration ( The Cube trilogy)
S.U.P ( Same guys as Supuration but different style)
Elend ( Try ‘the Umbersun’ to scare your neighbours in the night)
And there is someone ( japanese again but i only like 4 or 5 jp bands anyway) i haven’t mentioned yet whose voice is etched in my brain, but no one cares when i mention her anyway : Cocco.
@prawnsushi caused my Persona music + pixel–animation background spree.
Beneath the Mask
No More What Ifs
Sunset Bridge
Crossroads
@afre glad you like it.
Now try Nier Replicant and Nier Automata OSTs. Definitely unforgetable music.
‘Surtout si wir haben spelade the Gēmu’
My emo guilty pleasure is Alexisonfire discovered while playing Burnout Paradise. Loads of great tracks on the radio in that game.
I’d post their own video but it’s got a tedious cinematic intro before the music starts
In the past week I’ve been listening a lot to The Beatles, some Beach Boys (RIP Brian), Brian Eno, Aphex Twin, Led Zeppelin, Rainbow, Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, The Cure, Vangelis, Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, and so on. It all depends on mood really.
Today it’s a George day:
I listen to all day long to everything from Country Blues (Lightnin’ Hopkins) to Jazz (Diana Krall) but one song I have been playing a lot lately is Oval Room by Blaze Foley. Amazing how timely it is considering it was written in the 80’s.
Over a decade ago I was wearing my Angel Dust shirt on the light rail and an older man saw it and got excited and said “You know what kind of bird that is? It’s a crane! Beautiful bird.”
And then you show him the back :
“You know what meat that is?
It’s beef! Beautiful meat.”
I want that tshirt :0
Generally, I let radio and podcasts do the curating. I used to maintain a catalogue, but managing it made me crazy. The same reason why I do not use an app to manage my photos. Keeping it perfectly tagged, organized, reconciled and deduplicated is too stressful.
The channel I default to in the car and kitchen is 96.3 FM, which is https://classicalfm.ca/.

Good job I didn’t meet the same man while wearing my Tool t-shirt. That one was a bit NSFW.
Listening to the album “Vacuum” by an Italian band, The Watch (their best album, IMO). Also to the final track from another of their albums (Tracks From the Alps) called “The Last Mile”.
I have an Excel spreadsheet which every song in my main playlist including information such as song name, artist (incl. vocalists and remixers), year of release, label under which it was released (mostly just to distinguish Monstercat songs) and Mcat brand. Along with that there are a few formulas that show me some statistics like the histogram of years of release (e.g. more than a ⅓ of all songs is just 2012, 2013 and 2014 alone).
I thought of adding a genre to each song, but besides Monstercat songs, that each have their wiki article with a genre, it would be too difficult and time consuming to label.
On my way home, just let foobar choose an album for mem : Spiritual Beggars (2013 reissue)
