Caught Nature trying a new brush effect in the great Gimp in the sky
Neat!
I’ve always enjoyed watching and photographing clouds. Daily great examples of nature’s ability to construct large symmetric structure…
So, Sutherland for a weekend away (it is called Sutherland because it is in the very north of Scotland…). According to Wiki it has an area of 2,028 sq mi (5,252 km2) and a population of 12,650.
There seem to be more of these than people:
To continue a theme, we found quite a number of abandoned properties:
The last couple are of the Moine House, which used to be a stopping point on the old road across the bog (Sutherland is part of the Flow Country)
Lots of mountains, though less haze would have been good, these are probably the most well known ones, Benn Loyal and Ben Hope
The last picture is from Lochan Hakel, an interesting drive followed by an equally interesting walk to get to it.
Also, some spectacular beaches, this is Sango bay, near Durness
We went to check out a hiking trail we’d not tried, in a location we’d not been to yet today.
Now we’ve committed to going out over the next several weekends. Here’s a handful of pics from today.
I also went to the local university on Saturday morning to take some shots there…always something to shoot.
The heat has been ridiculous over the last couple of weeks, but the light has been pretty good as it’s sometimes dampened by the wildfire smoke.
RHCPs. like it
@AdamFromCanada Two of the images did not load properly.
See:
Yeah… I’ll fix that after I get home from work.
Oops.
Red Hot Chili Peppers?

9810 is absolutely magnificent - a blue hour shot?
For some reason, this reminds of the statue of Molly Malone (AKA “The tart with the cart”) in Dublin.
Yes shot during blue hour!
This sculpture is called „Das Stollwerck Mädchen“
