Just a quick and dirty Snapseed pano edit, using bimostitch pano stitcher. Haven’t been able to make time to get processing in darktable yet, but I’ll give some of these a shot tonight.

In 2011 I went to Fort Davis, Texas for the annual Texas Star Party, a month after the Rock House Fire that charred over 300,000 acres. It was pretty surreal looking. In some places the fire moved so fast it burnt only bits here and there but in others there was nothing left at all.
Briefly, the fire started from an electrical spark in an unoccupied (but not abandoned) house. With the assistance of typical west Texas spring winds – which not-uncommonly reach 60 MPH at times – it spread 25 miles in less than an hour at one point. While that fire was being fought, a participant in a local college rodeo threw a cigarette on the ground (*sigh*) and started what became a separate 40,000+ acre fire. This was all after months of no rain over the previous autumn and winter, followed by a dry and windy spring.

I lived in London for 4 years in the early 2000s and didn’t see a single parakeet. But then I was back there last year and saw loads of them. It was very strange seeing these birds in the UK. The video is blocked in Canada too, so I can’t watch the video, but I’d heard that the population is just from some escaped pets. Is that right?
Yes, the first time I saw them was maybe three years ago in a friend’s garden in Forest Hill and I said to him, I just saw a parrot in your garden?! He was, oh yeah they’re everywhere.
The patches of burned area contrasted against the green bits really give it a surreal look, I can’t imagine the ferocity of that fire with such strong winds.
From what I’ve read the Texas prairie area functioned around natural yearly burns since the plants had deep roots and just sprouted back up.
When I arrived there had been no rain in months and yet there was already bright green shooting up from the burnt ground. It was amazing.

I’ve been doing a lot of macro this year and wanted to get better at focus stacking. The Canon R7 disables flash when using the in-camera focus bracketing so I have to take the shots manually. I’m finally getting to the point where I’m getting acceptable results. Here’s an 18 shot image of a cooperative weevil taking a drink of water. The stacks were merged with Shinestacker by @Luca_Lista and edited on Darktable.

Thanks! Yes, that was my hunch based on some research I did. Hopefully they weren’t the invasive brown marmorated stink bug, but they probably were

Edit: I see that it pulled the images so they are hosted by the forum instead. Well, lesson learned 
I am always careful with direct uploads but had no idea this behavior existed…
Edit2: I have replaced with the low res/quality thumbnails and added an extra image where you can see the burned bits on the bottom.
