I was lucky I was not on mobile data, as that would have ended quite badly ![]()
I’m running quite low at the moment and refill is still quite far…
I know the pain. Thankfully we got rid of data caps 2-3 years ago after the Romanian company Digi entered the country, now we have unlimited data for 5 euro per month due to extreme competition. We had a telecommunications cartel for decades and it’s finally crumbling down. Government anti-monopoly agencies did nothing and were obvious corrupt, yay for unregulated capitalism… Hope your country can benefit from the same soon ![]()
One of the old buildings on Princes Street went up in the early hours of this morning. That’s the second big blaze on the main shopping/castle viewing street in a few years.
I got around to working on some of the fire photos on my laptop. The one pictured has since shifted course and is still moving with great force.
All edited using dt 5.6 windows.
Hesitate to like these given the ferociousness of the destruction but thanks for posting.
Yeah, the fire certainly isn’t fun. The photos of it are good, though.
Great photos @AdamFromCanada
Fire is very captivating. There is a photo I’ll never forget, it’s called Elk in the Bitterroot River (Elk Bath), taken with a Kodak DC280.
We got smoke yesterday here in Kelowna, although I’m not sure it’s from that one. I think it’s from the one burning west of Merritt.
These are not recent photos, but while we’re on the topic, I thought I’d post them. This fire was north of Lillooet in BC, Canada.
I spent a few lovely hours today walking around the small Dutch town of Hoorn. Houses some of which go back to the late Middle-Ages, the weather was perfect. A small selection below. Raw converted with Darktable 5.6 and post-processed with Digikam 9.1.0
love the colors here @wrjfoto, the greens and pink/reds in the flower are so nice.
This gave me a good chuckle. Thanks!
Enough fire for this week from me… I went out the other day to see some water. One of the same waterfalls I’ve been to several times now.
Now that the flow has slowed down a bit I tried a couple new compositions.
I’ve also taken to trying to push these a bit brighter on my laptop, as I’ve noticed a definitive difference in how they look compared to my edits on my pc at home.
Edited using darktable 5.4 windows.
Huge files … can you downsize?

Went out for an evening walk yesterday. There was some really nice light filtering through the summer haze.
Decided to go out to the coast, today, even if I was a bit tired. I’m glad I did, otherwise I would have missed these kestrels:
A couple more pics and a bunch of Dutch words on my blog.
I love the third one.
