Module Presets UI issue in DT 5.0.0 on W11

Hello!

I’ve encountered a problem with module presets UI in DT 5.0.0 on Windows 11.
In DT 5.0.0 clicking the module presets list icon opens a list with mouse pointer hovering on top of it just like in 4.8.1.

The problem - DT 5.0.0 applies a preset the mouse happens to be hovering over on opening the preset list on it’s own. The issue doesn’t exist on a Mac but I don’t use it for editing photos.

I’ve reverted back to DT 4.8.1 for now.

If anyone else is having this problem please let me know if it’s solvable. Although it definitely looks like a bug to me.

Some software/hardware data in case it’s relevant:
Windows version: 23H2, build 22631.4602.
Hardware: i5 13600k, MSI RTX 3060Ti, GIGABYTE Z790 Gaming X AX, 32Gb DDR 5 SDRAM.

See Diffuse and Sharpen Preset selection issue.....

Thank you! My preset lists are indeed very long. The fix is merged so I’ll wait for the next release then. 4.8.1 will do until then.

Or a nightly build from GitHub.

I am on 5.1.0+24 weekly build supplied for Windows on this forum and the problem seems fixed.

I posted today a message dealing with a similar problem regarding the module presets in DT 5.0.0 on Windows 10. Please see my message following the link:

The left mouse click does nothing in my case. Right mouse click works correctly, i.e. the preset selected will be activated as a new instance of that module. As interim solution I hover the mouse on the preset option. When it is highlighted I press return key.

I think this is a bug. This behaviour applied to presets of all modules.

if it worked for two weeks and you didn’t installed an updated developer version then first check your system for changes.

Try the following:

  • quit darktable
  • rename C:\Users\<your user>\AppData\Local\darktable\shortcutsrc (e.g. to shortcutsrc.bak); under Linux, it should normally be: .config/darktable/shortcutsrc (with FlatPak, probably something else; locate shortcutrsrc should find it)
  • restart

If that does not help, do the same with darktablerc (again: quit, rename, restart).

If either of those help, you can try restoring the file, making a copy, and start removing files from the ‘active’ version (that is, shortcutsrc or darktablerc).

Hello Martin, István,

yesterday I solved the issue with the mouse, by downloading and installing the nightly release v5.1.0+47 from GitHub. Before that I de-installed v5.0.0 and installed again, but it did not help.

Now the problem has gone.

Uninstalling darktable does not remove the configuration and database files, so of course it did not help.

Glad your problem is solved, though.
