[Play Raw] Everything frozen

Hello,

I thought it is time to contribute a shot for PlayRaw. This is my personal favorite for 2018 so far, a small waterfall near Oberstdorf, Bavaria.

Every good thing from the nicely working RT5.4 rc2:
HDR tone mapping, local contrast, automatic curve matching and then some color contrast added.

Great image. Thought it might lend to some dramatic BW conversion. Also a chance to use brand new RawTherapee 5.4RC2. Here is one of my many attempts:

Could not resist to submit a color version too. Basically done in RT 5,4 RC2 plus some GIMP love! A point to note is that the Tokina Lens used in this photo was not automatically recognised by the lens correction module of RT. However, I manually chose the lens and then, it did correct vignetting etc.

Then off to gimp and. Unfortunately, I must have messed up somewhere along the way - suspicion points out with hard gloves and even harder gaze that must have been when I was exporting a visualizing copy and dropped the precision from laser to viking’s hammer - as there’s some a bit of banding showing up in the water. Anyway, some other notes: gmic’s LHC is super nice and takes sometime to process big boys, final stage before grain was a shifted homy LUT

After some super pondering, superficially pondering this is, I got stuck with the crop, that left side… mmmm… that corner… I could arti-lit it and throw away the keys (???) but… wJaJht about straighten it up, you mean like sobering? nono no, sir, I’m affraid your time is up :sauropod: Shut up, your instinct :stuck_out_tongue:  >> Final image

And a 1:1 crop for ogem-pornoism

Cheers

@asn Reminds me of stalactites, etc., but they are icicles! The waterfall reminds me of how I like to pour my antifreeze or tea :stuck_out_tongue:. Thanks for sharing :slight_smile:.

@chroma_ghost @McCap Appreciate the crops.

That’s a nice crop mr pixel mc… if fight wants against trapeizodal shape, is less dynamic and more prone to spectators… kind of passive agressive with the strong faling dush that burns light - ( :stuck_out_tongue: ) - and all

@afre appreciated ur appreciation { emoji of a goat that finds god, then dies}

Yes, the lens is not part of the lensfun database yet. I’ve started to take pictures for it, but I need to redo the vignetting part. I will do it when I have my new camera and have to profiles for the new lenses too.

Hi there. It’s been a while for me since my last visit, so I hope that I respect all rules applicable here.

@asn: What a great location and a nice shot.

Here is my interpretation

I cheated a bit, as I developed in darktable but than I also did a little dodge and burn and web (resize+sharpen) prep in gimp.

Good interpretation! I like the tones and textures.

Don’t worry about that.
